Who we are
Noor Eyewear Ltd., 200-4021 Hastings St, Burnaby, BC. In British Columbia, private businesses handle personal information under the Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA).
Booking an eye exam
'Book an eye exam' takes you straight to EyecareX, where you choose your time. On this site we only count the click (see below).
Visit requests
If you send a visit request, we receive the details you enter (name, email, phone, preferred time, reason, any note, and the profile or frames you chose to attach), plus how you found us, as described under the Noor letter below. We use them to arrange your visit and email you a receipt. If you tick the box, we'll also send eye-health reminders and news. We don't sell or share them. Please don't put health details in the note; tell us at your visit instead.
When you press “Book”
Booking happens on EyecareX, our booking system. When you press a Book button on this site we count the click without your name or email: which exam you chose, the page, how you found us (for example a Google search or Instagram), and a random number your browser keeps so a repeat click counts once. It tells us which posts and ads help people book. Nothing about your health is involved.
Wholesale requests
If you ask for our wholesale catalogue, we keep your practice or store name, your role, name, email, phone and note, and how you found us, to send the catalogue and follow up. We email you news only if you tick the box.
The Noor letter (email sign-up)
If you sign up at the bottom of any page, we keep your email, your first name if you give it, the topics you picked, the page you signed up on, any campaign tag in the link you followed, and how you found us (for example a Google search, Instagram or a printed QR code, worked out from the site that sent you). Your browser keeps that last part on your own device; it is not a cookie and isn't used to track you on other sites. If you've added frames to your visit or taken the Freddo Style Quiz on this device, those frames and your quiz answers (face shape, undertone, your day, prescription type and budget) are sent with your sign-up, so we can have the right frames ready and tell you about new ones you'd like. We email you a link to confirm before we send anything else, and we keep a record of your consent (the wording you agreed to and when) as Canada's anti-spam law requires. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing takes effect right away.
Where your details are kept
Details from visit requests and the sign-up are kept in Noor's customer records, stored with Supabase, a secure online database service, in Canada (Montreal region). Only Noor staff can sign in to see them. To stop spam we keep a scrambled (hashed) form of your IP address, never the address itself. Emails are sent through Resend, a US-based email service, so your email address and the message pass through its servers in the United States, where they may be accessible to US authorities under US law. Health information from your eye exam stays in EyecareX and is not kept in these records.
How long we keep it
We keep your details while you're a customer or subscribed. If you only made an enquiry and we haven't heard from you in two years, we delete it. Ask us at any time and we'll delete your details sooner, unless the law requires us to keep them.
Online booking
"Book an eye exam" takes you to EyecareX, the platform Noor uses for online appointments. Information you enter there is handled under EyecareX's own privacy terms, shown on their booking page.
Stored only in your browser
Your Freddo style profile, your lens package choice and any frames you reserve are saved in your own browser (local storage) so they're still there next time. They're not sent to us unless you sign up for the Noor letter, ask us to email your quiz matches, or attach them to a visit request. Clear your browser data to remove them.
Emailing your quiz matches
If you ask us to email your Freddo Style Quiz matches, we keep your email address, the frames we sent and your quiz answers, and send that one email. We don't add you to the Noor letter unless you tick the box, and then only after you confirm by email.
How we send email
Our emails are sent through Resend, an email delivery service. To deliver them, Resend receives your email address and first name. Resend tells us whether an email was delivered, opened or a link in it clicked, and we keep that on your record so we send less of what you don't read. Every email has an unsubscribe link.
The Sight promise card
The card is made in your browser. Your name and promise are not sent or stored anywhere.
Fonts and maps
The site loads its typefaces from Google Fonts, which means your browser contacts Google's servers. The location map is an embedded Google Map. It loads from Google when you scroll to it, so Google receives your IP address and may set its own cookies under Google's privacy policy. Directions links open Google Maps in a new tab.
Counting visits
To see which pages help people and how they find us, each page you open sends us a short note: the page, how your visit started (for example a Google search, Instagram or a printed QR code), whether you're on a phone, tablet or computer, and a random number your browser keeps. No name, no email, no cookie, and no IP address (only a scrambled form, to stop abuse). If you later send us a form from the same browser, we link those page visits to your details so we know what you were interested in. If your browser sends Global Privacy Control or "Do Not Track", we don't count your visits at all. Visit records are deleted after 13 months.
Analytics cookies
If we turn on Google Analytics, the site first asks whether you accept analytics cookies. It loads only if you say yes, never for advertising, and Google receives your IP address and browsing on this site under Google's privacy policy. Change your answer any time: Cookie settings. We don't use advertising cookies.
